Released by Yamaha in 1987, the TX802 is basically a DX7-MK2 as a rack mount module. What makes it different then the DX is the TX802 is a 8 part, 16 voice multi-timbral synth. It's also one of the last in a long line of DX7-FM synths that Yamaha produced during the 80's and as a result it's probably their best.
Not only will the TX802 function as eight individual two-note synthesizers, each with its own individual audio output, but any number of these voices can be tied together to provide more polyphony if required. At one extreme is the capability for 8-part multitimbral operation and at the other extreme, the TX802 can be a single-voice 16-note polysynth. Any combination between these two extremes is also possible.
As with most FM synths the TX really shines when producing Basses, Electric Pianos, Bells and Percussion and FM Synth Special Effects so you will find lot's of those type of sounds in our collection. We have also found that the TX is great at producing a warmer synth pad sound that usually don't hear on a typical FM synth, so we have included some nice pads and strings too.
Many of the 64 performances have been layered together to produce a ultra fat sound! There are also 128 voices included in the collection. All in all it's a great mix of sounds for one of the best FM synths ever produced.
The TX802 sounds are available in system exclusive (.syx) or standard midi files (.mid) and can be downloaded from our web site. We provide the software with your order that lets you load in the sounds. If your computer has a midi interface connected to the USB port, you can use your midi interface to load in the sounds. Midi interfaces are an inexpensive alternative to purchasing RAM or PCM cards.
Our sounds will also get you back in business if your TX802 battery has died and you lost all the sounds in the memory. Sorry, but the sounds are not available on the old TX802 cartridges. The cartridges have not been made in many years and we no longer support that format.
