With the phenomenal success of the original DX7, Yamaha released several other DX7 type synths throughout the 80's. In 1984 they produced the TX7. The TX is essentially a table top version of the original DX7 - a 16 voice, 6 operator FM synth. However, with the TX you could not edit sounds from the front panel. You needed to purchase editing software so you could edit sounds using your computer. We like to use MOTU's Unisyn - which is a great editor/librarian that runs on both Mac and PC platforms.

Many keyboard players during the 80's would connect the TX7 to a DX7 via two midi cables and double the polyphony to 32 voices. That would also let you have two line outputs to simulate a stereo out. That was a very popular setup until Yamaha released the TX816 - which let you have a whopping 8 DX7's in a rack! The TX7 is probably one of the best deals around these days and a great way to get your hands on all those classic DX7 sounds without spending much. You can probably pick one up for under $100.

We have a large library of sounds for the Yamaha DX/TX series that include 32 banks of new sounds for a total of 1024 new sounds. We offer the complete library for $60. However, if you you don't need the complete library or are just looking for certain kinds of sounds we also offer the best 256 sounds in the collection at this web page for only $25.

Our Yamaha TX7 patches are available in system exclusive (.syx) or standard midi files (.mid) for Mac or PC computers. If your computer has a midi interface connected to the USB port, you can use your midi interface to load in the sounds. We provide the software along with your order that will load in the sounds for you. Midi interfaces are an inexpensive alternative to purchasing RAM or PCM cards.

Our sounds will also get you back in business if your TX7 battery has died and you lost all the sounds in the memory.
