Mac/PC Sysex or Midi File
Yamaha released the SY55 in 1990. It was one of the first AWM2 Synthesizers (Advanced Wave Memory) This is YAMAHA's term for PCM. The SY55 was among the earliest synthesizers equipped with the digital resonant filter - which enabled it to produce a nice mix of analog type sounds.
The SY55 featured a 61 note keyboard with velocity and aftertouch, 74 waveform samples in it's ROM, 34 digital effects, 8-track sequencer and a rage of controllers - including breath controller jack. Also included were 61 drum waveforms and 64 presets in it's ROM memory. An additional 64 patches could be loaded into it's RAM memory.
The rackmount module TG55 was actually released a year earlier in 1989. It included all the same features that were in the SY55 minus the keyboard and sequencer.
Our SY55 and TG55 patches are available in system exclusive (.syx) or standard midi files (.mid) and can be downloaded from our web site. We provide the software with your order that lets you load in the sounds. If your computer has a midi interface connected to the USB port, you can use your midi interface to load in the sounds. Midi interfaces are an inexpensive alternative to purchasing RAM or PCM cards.
Our sounds will also get you back in business if your SY55 or TG55 battery has died and you lost all the sounds in the memory. Sorry, but the sounds are not available on the old ROM cards. The cards have not been made in many years and we no longer support that format.
