Kawai K4r Rackmount Sound Module

Our K4 series patches are available in system exclusive (.syx) or standard midi files (.mid) and can be downloaded from our web site when you order our free e-mail delivery. We provide the software with your order that lets you load in the sounds. If your computer has a midi interface or sound card connected to the USB port, you can use your midi interface/sound card to load in the sounds. Midi interfaces are an inexpensive alternative to purchasing RAM or PCM cards.

Our sounds will also get you back in business if your K4 battery has died and you lost all the sounds in the memory. Sorry, but the sounds are not available on the old ROM cards. The cards have not been made in many years and we no longer support that format.

Kawai released the K4 in 1990 as their followup to the K1 series synths. It was improved over the K1 series with a much better acoustic piano sound, better synth waves and was not as "noisy" as the K1. It also included a digital resonant filter which greatly expanded the variety of sounds that could be programmed. Besides that, it was very similar to the K1 with a 61 note keyboard that had velocity and aftertouch, 16 voices and 8-part multitimbral.

The rackmount version K4r includes eight outputs and has all the same features except for the effects processor. The K4 effects processor included chorus, reverb, distortion, delay and a flanger. Both K4 and K4r feature 8-part multitimbrality which is great for stacking, splitting and layering sounds.
